Twin Kites

from Rearview by Two Cheers

/

about

“Twin Kites” is a platonic “love" song about a friend of mine. We have freakishly similar personalities, and we share a lot of the same ticks and quirks and problems and motivations. I think the way we go through the world seems eerily similar and particular. I guess we’re kind of cut from the same cloth. We even have the same birthday. And I don’t know about this friend, but I have a feeling like we are twin aliens from another planet who crash-landed and got stranded here on Earth and, by a random stroke of fate, found our way back to each other. So, when this friend first visited California and we got to know each other it was like finally finding someone from my planet, and I really had a sadness when they had to go back to where they live out East. Like, “I can’t believe you have to go, I just discovered you are one of whatever I am and we have so much catching up to do!"
